Polishing minerals
Polishing the minerals we collect (rock crystal, jasper, jasper-chalcedony, wood-opal, Hungarian brown opal) is the most perfect way to make simple “stones” become beautiful objects such as keyrings, earrings, medals, paper weight and many other small ornaments.
In Mountain Gyepű mainly amethyst, smoky quartz, rock crystal, quartz pseudomorph can be found. Sinta is the place to find the most beautiful rock crystals, but it is also agate stones. Mountain Fehér has geodes and Valley Ósva has varieties of opal.

“Gold panning”
From 1 May to 30 September after having made an appointment.
Our tour guide takes our guests for a time travel. During the 4-hour programme you have the opportunity to learn the history of Telkibánya, a mining town in the Middle Ages, walk along the paths where gold miners used to walk, have a look at the ruins of the mediaeval Konczfalva, see surface pits or shafts (called “horpa” in Hungarian), then following the Mountain Jó Brook, which drove the wheels of the stamping-mills, we walk on as far as the sludge dumps.
Having finished our walk we can start to pan gold and look for treasure, using the pan, sieve, small spade, magnifier, claws and bags from our backpack. We can find pieces of ore containing gold, river clinker, quartz, quartzite, rock crystal and many other minerals.
